Virginia Pre-Game Notes
by Joe Johnson The return of Wali Lundy to the backfield should help the Cavaliers immensely. Virginia has two wins and a spot in the polls but the Cavaliers have had squeakers for wins. That shouldn't be the case against Duke. If Lundy is able to return, even for a few snaps against the Blue Devils, it will give him some needed game time to set himself up for the rest of the season. A healthy Lundy will take some of the pressure of quarterback Marques Hagans, who has played superbly. But the Cavaliers need more balance as they head into the meat of their schedule. After Duke, Virginia has a stretch of three games with Maryland, Boston College and Florida State. It would help too if linebacker Ahmad Brooks could get back into the lineup. Brooks had off-season knee surgery but he has not been able to see any action for the Cavaliers. Luckily, Kai Parham has stepped in and played with abandon in the first to games for Virginia. Parham had three career sacks coming into this season. He had three sacks in a quarter last weekend against Syracuse.
