Mid-Week Report (Miami)

by Joe Johnson
Oct 6, 2005

Defense has been Miami's bright spot this season and now the offense is catching up. The Hurricanes' last opponent South Florida gave the offense some time to fine tune some things. That should continue this week against Duke. Miami's defense set the table for the offense against South Florida and the offense came through with 17 points in the first 12 minutes of the game. The defense forced five turnovers in the first half and the offense had plenty of opportunities. Miami had an average starting position at the South Florida 18 in the first quarter. Overall, Miami converted four of six trips inside the 20 against South Florida with two Tyrone Moss rushing touchdowns and two John Peattie field goals. Red-zone proficiency with touchdowns hasn't been a trademark for Miami this season but the Hurricanes should get plenty of practice against Duke on Saturday.
